Niihama City Museum of Art 10th Anniversary Exhibition IV "Sanrio: 60 Years of Japanese Kawaii Culture"
Sanrio Co., Ltd., which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2020, is widely known as a pioneer of Japan's world-renowned character culture. It is no exaggeration to say that its history, which has produced over 450 characters such as Hello Kitty and My Melody, is the history of "kawaii" culture itself, which has now become a global common language.
This exhibition traces the history of Sanrio characters through merchandise and printed materials dating back to the company's founding. It also focuses on the unique style of Sanrio, which has fostered the growth and development of its characters while valuing communication with fans, and uncovers the secrets behind Sanrio characters that have remained beloved throughout the ages.
This is the largest exhibition in Sanrio's history, and can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from children to adults.
